Chatuchak Market

Twenty or so years ago I bought flatware at this exact spot. Today I bought a matching salt and pepper. Chatuchak is the largest market in Thailand. It has 15,000 stalls, 11,500 vendors all in 27 sections. So, if you see something you like buy it or take a picture of the "street" sign so you can get back to it.  The skytrain was packed, the market was packed - it's like being at Costco on a Friday of a long weekend. Normally I am not so good with crowds but here it is just a simple matter of life and everyone takes the lines and slowness in their stride. It took ten minutes to exit the BTS station. Because of the protest at the MBK center all trains were delayed  and some cancelled. Just added to the confusion . When I left I was talking to two Aussies who were actually on a cruise and took a van from the ship to the market. We all got on the train and turned out it was going the wrong way.....next stop the three of us jumped out only to be told by a Thai teenager to get back on.  We did, the doors closed and we looked at each other and thought DUH - we all just listened to this kid and now were stuck. Anyhow, she was right - obviously all the announcements in Thai went over our heads, she must have overheard us talking about where we were going and knew what we had to do.
I took this picture so I would know where to go to when I needed to leave and make it back to the skytrain.

So, section 10 Soi 19 Aisle 3 -

Miniature Majhong game!
I left the market around 2:30 and 12,000 steps later! Got off at my stop and headed to the Food court for some Pad thai  - first time I've had it there and it was pretty good. Will have to go back cause I still have money on my ticket!
After a rest, ok a sleep, I went up to check out the pool area as it is going to be 34 degrees today  - afternoon plan.  Very small pool and only 1.5 M deep.....better than nothing! From there I went to the rooftop bar and the view was just OK.
So, I walked down the street and saw this.

HAHA.....was going to go in and ask for something odd but decided it was too hot to eat anyhow so I came back to the hotel and read.
Turns out that one of the top ten restaurants from 2019 Trip Advisor's Travelers Choice Awards is very close to where I am staying in Chiang Mai. David's Kitchen - will have to check it out!
OK, out of my air conditioning comfort I go - its only 28 right now. heading to Terminal 21 and then to a walking street - new today at Silom.
