Three towns, 2 markets - Mijas Costa, San Pedro, Marbella

Image
On Wednesday (2/26/2020) I went to see the Mijas Costa market. It was much the same as the other markets but a few different stalls - didn't buy anything! I walked into the little town and then down to see the beach. Orange tree in the square Today I was up early and on the road to San Pedro market - again, just looking! OMG..what's gotten into me!!  I think I shopped myself out in Thailand.  Lots of shoes, different styles and colours!  From here I drove to Puerto Banus and went to the Corte Inglis,  I was going to get some groceries .....after parking and walking around I decided that I mine as well go to Marbella, so having groceries in the car was not a good idea. Off I went! Finding parking is a huge hassle everywhere here. I knew where I wanted to go but my GPS could not find the parking lot so I arrived here. Had no clue where I was therefore the picture.  I made my way to the beach and walked along the promenade until I got to the to

Istan, Fuengirola, Parasite chips!

First off, this is an example of a Spanish Water dog that has not been clipped  - kind of like dreads I guess. She was really sweet and ball obsessed. My sea glass collection is a little out of control - I have obviously separated the colored glass from the white and if push comes to shove the white will stay.  Surfers were out on Sunday!  On Monday I drove to Istan but forgot my phone so I have no pictures - it is a small town on a dead end road. Interesting to see but not a lot was there. Had to park outside the town and walk in as the roads were not wide enough! On Tuesday I drove to Fuengirola and walked up to Sohail Castle - the views were lovely. I walked down the other side and along the beach back to the car. Swans weren't going out! Beach for as long as you can see! The men in uniform are raking the beach! They missed a pocketful of sea glass!! From here I went to Corte Ingles - kind of the Spanish equivale

Markets and Malaga

Image
On Thursday I went to San Pedro market with Maureen and Micheal. None of us have been to this particular market before. It was very big and had a wide range of products. Everything from spices to shoes, even homemade olive oil.        Biggest red pepper ever! Actually all the fruits and vegetables seem to all come in XXL . After the market we drove down to the beach and went for a walk along the boardwalk - pretty windy but sunny! Yesterday I went to Malaga to see the Picasso Museum.  Stopped in Benalmadena en route, a Buddhist temple and some gorgeous scenery. The Picasso museum was OK. Picasso himself had not been back to Malaga since he was 19.  I am glad I went and look forward to seeing the Picasso museum in Paris in a few weeks. My, along with a million+ others, favorite Picasso is in Madrid -  Guenica - I've seen it three times and hope some day to see it again. Malaga: Woops, I was headed to the Museum of Wine by mistake! Just kiddin

SUNSETS & GIBRALTAR

Image
Gorgeous sunsets 2/18/2020 It was the first overcast day since I have been here so thought I'd mine as well spend some of the day in the car. Hence the trip to GIB. Easy to see why they call it the rock.....I did not go up to see the caves or the apes. Will wait and do that when Tiki arrives. The weather was not conducive to doing it and it costs about 50 bucks. Once you walk through customs you have the choice to walk across the runway into town or take the bus. I chose the bus cause it was such a yucky day. Cops setting up a spot check  of some kind Thought the monkey's would be cute for some puppies I know but 8 pounds is crazy...... Main square in the town.
