Adios Thailand ~ Hola Espana

I am really going to miss this guy, every time I went back to the condo or left it he would stand up, clicks his heels and salute me!  If I am were waiting for a taxi he would jump up and offer me his seat!  The ultimate doorman.



The last two weeks have been an exercise in frustration dealing with Thai Airways. I had three requests - change seats on two flights an ask about the extra baggage I had purchased. After all the phone calls and emails back and forth about the extra baggage I purchased I arrived this morning totally prepared too just bite the bullet and pay them again. I actually went to the airport yesterday and was able to get my seat changed on one flight!!! Anyway, I just put both bags up on the belt and she put them through,6 kg over - no muss no fuss no charge! Ahhh all that worry for not!!!

The flight was 70 percent full so lots of empty seats . Arrived in no time and headed straight to the Hyatt to pick up the bag I left there six weeks ago.  Picked it up and arrived at the Shrangi-La about 1:15. Baggage had to go through a scanner and so did I to get in.  Not only that but they were taking everyones temperature as they entered! Also had to fill out a form on where I had been the last two weeks. It is a very nice hotel and a great location. My room was not ready so I went down to the waterfront and had lunch. 


Bird swooped in to get the peanuts as soon as the people left.

OK, off to Spain via a night in Paris!!  Not looking forward to the long flight but can't be avoided !

Monday March 9th Amsterdam

We headed out to the Albert Cuyp Market first thing - we walked by a restaurant that said bacon and eggs and we were in it like a flash! The guy was super nice and we both ordered breakfast. It was interesting because the plate had toast on it the bottom then we think they cooked the bacon and then cooked eggs right on top of the bacon. Sounds odd but it was good - after I pulled the bacon apart from the egg and separated it all!  Tiki says it looked like a bacon and egg pizza! The owner talked us into splitting a piece of apple cake that he had just brought out of the kitchen - it was also very good!!! Freshly baked apple cake! A whole stand of licorice! Spain to Paris - no money, no credit card, no wifi!!

Geez Louise, of all the travelling I have done over the years this was a first. My whole frigging purse was stolen from right beside me. I can only think of three scenarios as to what may have happened. Keep in mind it is 8 am. 1. I left the table and went to the washroom but Tiki was right there. 2. I got up to say goodbye to Tiki and give her a hug 3. I took my sweatshirt off and put it in my suitcase Either way it is not important - as soon as I realize it was gone I went to the information desk. The women said I had to go downstairs to the Police. Got to the little elevator that said POLICE and the luggage cart wouldn't fit in -ahhh...finally made it to the police and the idiot behind the desk watched me struggle with my bags getting them through the door. He was not at all concerned about my purse missing as I am sure it is a daily occurrence. Crazy time to be in Paris - Corona-virus

The Corona virus has been following me around since late January when it first appeared in Thailand. Chiang Mai had 10 flights a week direct from Wuhan, China - ground zero, so to speak. The last week I was there everyone was wearing a mask ....not that it does any good but it does prevent you from touching your face. I arrived in Spain via BKK and CDG on February 6th and felt relieved and a little safer. There were no known cases reported in Spain at that time. I merrily drove all over the Costa del Sol. On February 28th Spain reported two people in Madrid and one in Seville that were thought or suspected to have the virus. Tiki joined me in Spain on March 2nd and at that time there were less than five reported cases in the Costa Del Sol area. We left Spain on March 6th and at that time there were six reported cases.
