Moving on!

Micheal, our German Yoga instructor. The best at the retreat IMHO.

The view from Central Perk - GA SO LINE -sold by the bottle

Was up very early on Sunday to finish packing and catch the taxi to the airport at 7:30.   Good thing, as the taxi arrived 15 minutes early!
I had him drive over to the Aloha where I said my goodbyes to Wendy and Kylie!  They were just on their way over . The driver pulled over to the side of the road enroute to the airport as he was not sure that I had paid the resort his fare and had to confirm it. I got him to keep driving but he was going to just sit there...ahhhh!  Checked in and took a picture of my bag leaving on the belt.

Bangkok Airways checked my bag right through to Chiang Mai even though I was flying Thai Airways from Bangkok. When I arrived in Chiang Mai I was the last women standing at the belt watching the two unclaimed bags go round and round. A Thai Airways rep was there and asked for my luggage tag and what the bag looked like!  I showed him my picture and off he went. He explained my bag was at the international belt and that it would be here soon. I could have used my "tile" but didn't have wifi!!  I always take a picture of my bag and this time it came in handy!

                                                SKY CHAT

Have never seen this before  - chatting from seat to seat on the plane

Sumana picked me up and drove me to the apartment. The landlady met me there and it's OK. They use facial recognition to enter the lobby - Geez Louise! The place looks nice but the furniture is uncomfortable and there is no coffee maker! The location is great and it's a safe area.
I unpacked a bit and left at 6 to go for a walk.....

Just up the street is a SomTom class  - will do it for sure. Papaya salad is one of my favs!

An older couple playing and singing at the night market.

A temple in the old city.
The next time I looked at my watch it was 10 pm and I was exhausted! There were songthaews everywhere but I wasn't sure which one went back the way I needed to go so I walked home.

On Monday morning I went grocery shopping! Have eaten rice and noodles for a month and went a little crazy  - bought cheese, bread and heinz ketchup for a grilled cheese. Campbell's chicken noodle soup, ritz crackers, oatmeal , yougurt granola, green apples  - nothing thai related!! They deliver your groceries so from there Sumana took me out for lunch.

The food was good while it was going down but I have been paying for eating at a road side stand since Monday!! Bananas and toast and rice - couldn't find applesauce.

Yesterday I went in search of a soft pillow and a yoga studio. Luck on both counts.

The mall -Central Airport. 5 Floors and lots of Japanese stuff.

Yoga started this morning at 8 am. I was the only English speaking student therefore the only student. The teacher is very nice, speaks perfect English - she lived and trained in Virginia. So, for 40 dollars a month I get 3 lessons a week. I take "GRAB" aka UBER there and it cost me 79 Baht each way but I give them 100. So it's a deal!
After yoga I did some laundry - no dryer - but the washing machine works well. I hung the clothes outside and it was dry in a few hours. I went for a facial at a place highly recommended on Trip Advisor  - 2 hours of bliss, I will go back again as it is literally a five minute walk. From there I walked back into the night market area as I need to find some yoga cushions. I was thirsty after my exhausting facial and went into a mallof sorts. First thing on the right was a McDonalds. Not your regular McDonalds as they did not have burgers. They only served chicken, coke, ice cream and pies!

Couldn't finish all the fries and was only able to eat half the chicken  - must be the heat or the bananas!!

McDonald's corn pie?? Thinking I'll pass on both!  Turns out it was an electronics mall, I walked around and ended up getting a Thai Sim card - 30 days, 10 MB of data, a phone number - all for 20 bucks. So, now I can use GRAB wherever I am.  This deal is only available for tourists and I did not have my passport or any ID with me. I said I would come back tomorrow but instead the one clerk took a picture of the other and used her licence and presto I had a sim card.  That's how things work in Thailand.
